Need help with finding right mens dress shirt size?
I have difficulty finding mens dress shirts that fit me well. I have a very thin body around my abdomen and chest. My neck is actually not as thin. I need about a 16 1/2 inch neck, but dress shirts with that dimension are way too big in the body.
A 15 1/2 and 16 neck fits my body much better but the neck is too tight to be able to wear a tie. Since dress shirts are sold by neck size, I don’t know what to buy. Do I buy the right neck size and I can comfortably wear a tie or a smaller neck size to fit my body better but it suffocates me when I wear a tie?
Buy a shirt that fits your neck size. Take it to a tailor to have it taken in. It’s easier & cheaper to take the shirt in than alter the collar size. BTW, H & M & www.landsend.com carry slim/tailored fit shirts that may suit your build. ex)

It may seen difficult to find a shirt your size, but large department store can find them for your. Best thing I can recommend that you do is; buy shirts that fit your neck size and have then tailored. Many stores offer tailoring services. What they would have to do is bring-in the side seams. If it's a shirt that you plan wearing untucked I would recommend altering the length as well so that it won't look like tube shirt. But trust me, shop around and you'll find the right size.
