Wearing Cufflinks The Right Way

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

A cuff link is an embellished fastener for men. It usually fastens the two parts of a French cuff, particularly on a shirt or in a blouse. If the cuffs of the french cuff shirts are not fastened it will overlap it as ordinary button cuffs are designed. These fasteners contains simplest designs only and contains a basement post, and also either a short lengthy cylindrical shaped part or short lengthy ornamental chain joining two disc-shaped parts at its two ends.

One part of the chain is sized to fit into the button hole of the cuff as well as the other visible one is made to have a wider side having the designs and . A decorative initial letter applied cufflink is kept like the visible part of the cuff.

When you wear cuff links for the first time, make notice about the tone of the particular event and also make note of what the others will be wearing.

Now the tips for how to link a cuff with a cufflink first close the swivel bar slide the cufflink into the slits from out. To assure the cufflinks are secure, open the swivel bar and then press them to lock into the position.

We can choose at least five cuff styles at the custom Dress Shirt cuffs, to wear. These styles can be matched with neck tie, button covers, ascot or bolo tie/ bola tie.

There are many choices of cuff links for different occasions. It is important to choose cufflinks to coincide with the tone of the event or occasion. For example Hematite cuff links suits for any formal occasion as well as Paua Shell Cuff links suits for Festive occasion and also for daily wear.

Cuff links has a wide range of designs as that of any fashion product. Each and every detail about design and construction of cuff links must be attached with it.

The cuff link can also be fastening by the silk knot, known as monkey’s fists. This style is very popular in Europe than in North America. Although it’s cheaper than any cuff link it is well regarded and used as formal wear.

Usually these color-coordinated silk knots suits with the French cuff shirts as an alternate for double-button cuff links.

The cuff on a dress shirt which will close with cuff links or silk knots is known as the French cuff or double cuff. So cuff links and silk knots co exist in shirts with French cuffs.

French cuffs suits for any formal occasion instead of button cuffs. Beyond formal French cuffs are the one which we can choose by preference and find an alternate one.

A standard suit and button cuffs are formal for an occasion. But when it comes like the job interview in business circle, shirts with button cuffs will be given first preference than with French cuffs.

As we said already French cuffs can also be tied with cost effective, formal silk knots known as monkey’s fists as a replacement for tying with cuff links. This style is more popularly known in Europe than in United States.  Cuff links are the finish for French cuff shirts.

French Cuffs Dress Shirts?

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Where can I purchase or order boys size 6-7 French Cuff Shirts?

Thank you

You are going to have to go to a higher end department store for this item. Something like Macys or Saks.

You might also try a tux rental place. They can probably get you want you want with very little trouble. French cuffs unfortunatly are becoming a thing of the past but I like them.

Good luck

Is it ok to wear a french cuff shirt to a job fair for interviews?

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Is it ok to wear a french cuff shirt to a job fair for interviews or just a regular cuff type shirt?

If you are wearing a suit and tie, absolutely. French cuffs are generally considered too formal to be worn without the suit, though.

Make sure to wear reasonably conservative cufflinks.

For a french cuff shirt, can I use the plastic buttons that it comes with it or do i need to buy some links?

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

It really depends on your age. A young boy can get away with plastic, but a grown man should really own a pair of cuff links for a french cuff shirt.

French Cuff Shirts?

What department or mall stores can I buy french cuff shirts from?

Last year I purchased my prom shirt from http://www.paulfredrick.com/ which has the style I like (white french cuff and white collar with colored stripes) and I have not seen any dress shirts similar in the mall

If you have a Syms close, try them – they have some really nice style shirts with french cuffs.

Also you can try Macy’s- check out SeanJean or Trump collections – they both wear french cuff and their designs follow suit. (pardon the pun)

There is also a chain called S&K I think- they have some nice choices. Good luck. Admire the same style.
